LIVING THE NOW LIFE

What Do We Do When Culture Leads Us Into Competition with God?

An Uncommon Call

To An

A Uncommon Life

What does that mean? No other world view or religion offers a living personal relationship with creator God.

The ABC's
Christ alone calls each man to a personal relationship with Him.
  • Acknowledge Him as Savior
  • Believe in Jesus as Savior
  • Confess our Sins before Him
In this way, we give our lives to Christ. Our card is punched for eternity. But life is so much more than waiting for heaven. Believers enter into an adventure unlike any other – we are called to live the uncommon life.
We are called to an uncommon life with Christ. It is a deliberate decision and determination in the life of each child of God. It is not something we fall into – it is something we commit to.

It is an inward commitment to an outward life. It is a proposition between us and God. This uncommon adventurous life is not determined by either you or I, God is leading. It is not explained in advance, God’s ways are above ours. We will not be given evidence in advance of God’s direction – this is called faith.

It is however, simple and complete: we surrender our demand for the things of this world now and turn our lives over to God, believing He is with us. By being like Joshua we then -
  • Serve Him first before ourselves
  • Place Him first above every demand
  • Give Him first loyalty above else
THE AGE OF “NOW”
I love the scene in the movie, Jerry McGuire where he turns to face the camera and says, “We live in a cynical world…” The sentiment is pretty spot on but there is a much bigger driver in this age we live, it is the demand for NOW. We live in the age of now – instant gratification laced with the ever increasing need for speed.

NOW living often leads us into direct competition with God. He is the true God of NOW but his life flies in the face of the world's image of living.
LIVING FOR MORE
Ordinary life can be perplexing; there is so much competition to succeed in a world that defines achievement by burdening us with the “MORE” of life – stuff & status.

Christ’s call on the lives of each of us is vastly different. He made us as individuals - unique to Him. Our lives and the core of it become unique as well.

We’ve been talking about the uncommon call of Christ to each of us to live an uncommon life. Uncommon Call to an uncommon life, what does that mean? Precisely this, no other world view or religion offers a living personal relationship with creator God.

Christ’s call on the lives of each of us is vastly different. He made us individuals - unique to Him. So, our lives and the core of it become unique as well.

THE REALITY OF NOW
God desires that we live in the reality of His “now”. The world mimics the realities of God. It is by its very nature in competition with the reality of God. Here are just a few of the competitive realities we live in:
God fulfills his promises
We seek to fulfill our desires

God fulfills his plans for eternity
We seek to fulfill our plan for life

God provides for man in every way
We seek to provide for ourselves in our own way
